As a songwriter, guitarist and producer, Buddy's been associated with Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Solomon Burke and Lucinda Williams. His Solo albums have been incredibly well received - the latest, Universal United House of Prayer, was named Album of the Year at the 2005 Americana Music Awards. The songs he's written and recorded with his enigmatic wife, Julie, stand as some of the most haunting and honest ever committed to tape. "so new, there's still no title" was written by Julie on the night before this session and marks the first new music from the duo in over 2 years!

By rickyredhead on April 27, 2008, at 1:07PM PST Buddy's style (or lack thereof) is what makes his music so pleasing....simple with character, beset by words that tell the story...words from the heart, and soul of a real man, and a humble one.....Buddy is featured as the Artist of the Decade in the current (and last) issue of No Depression Magazine...be sure to read it....

By plughead on February 15, 2008, at 7:36PM PST Bloody great performance! Love to see people playing music - stuff that hits you: deep in your heart, a lump in your throat.

Heard Buddy and Julie's albums, never seen them - this is the next best thing!

BTW - I can't see the mic on the bass (Don) - what is it?!?

By rwjack on January 19, 2008, at 8:10AM PST I first heard Buddy miller a couple of years ago on a local NPR station.  Immediately picked up "Universal United House of Prayer", which, of course caused me to pick up the rest of his music.  He is one of the best out there today.  Incredible voice!  Can't wait for his next release (soon, I hope).

By Harry on January 18, 2008, at 2:31PM PST In 1995 I met Buddy on tour with Julie and Nina Astrom (Finland) in Holland. For that moment I shared the band Twice and we had the honour to do 8 concerts with them. For a long time I followed these 2 humble but fascinating people. Over the years they are still as pure as they ever started. This song is another piece of art, right from the heart. Thank God for these two and all the musicians they are involved with.

By radiopoet on December 31, 2007, at 1:51AM PST I can't stop watching/listening/studying this inspired performance.  I first saw Buddy when he was touring with Emmylou up here in Seattle, and have been smitten ever since with his graceful economy of style vocally and as a guitarist.  God gives good gifts to us, and it's great to see someone develop them to this extent.  The B3 is the stuff, too, isn't it?  Thanks for posting this great piece of art.

By RobRocks on December 22, 2007, at 8:25AM PST I do love watching professionals at work, these guys could even make me sound good. Am I missing some nuance about how to pull this song as an mp3? I'd love to be able to listen to this in my shop as I'm whacking up some wood.

By reallybigkenny on December 5, 2007, at 7:15AM PST Buddy Miller is one of the most emotive vocalist on earth!  His charming way of 'turning a phrase' is something I first saw in the early 80's in Europe.  Phil Madeira could be America's most talented and thoughtful writer, not to mention his enormous depth of skil as a instrumentalist.  This piece is a perfect coupling of heart and execution.  Congrats to Buddy, & Phil!!!

By drobbins on December 5, 2007, at 3:57AM PST Great stuff! I've known Phil Madeira's music for a long time, and I've been a fan of Buddy's for the last three or four years ( heard him at World Cafe in Philly, and bought all of his CD's). Very real, down to earth, and great music. And how cool, that Jesus really can save us from our sin!!
