Todd Snider is one of the greatest singer-songwriters around. He wrote this song about Dock Ellis - one of the greatest ballplayers in the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Although he's accomplished many things in his life, Dock may be best known among certain folks for having pitched a no hitter on LSD in 1970. In this new song, Todd chronicles one of the high points of baseball history.

By santacruzgal on October 21, 2008, at 8:50PM PST Makes me smile remembering my misspent youth.  I once watched the entire last game of the World Series out of my mind on LSD.  It was a great game, but at the end, I couldn't tell you who was playing. As for Dock Ellis, as one who has done my share, I can fully understand how it happens that he pitched a no hitter on LSD. A bit of history I was unaware of, previously.  Todd, I've been your biggest fan since 1995. Thank you.

By madisonguy on August 10, 2008, at 6:15PM PST Actually, it was June 12, 1970.  Not 1971.  The song is correct, the story is cool, and I like the sound these guys make when they play, especially that slide guitar.
