by eddybad on March 17, 2008, at 10:24AM PST Wonderful video, Harry. Have used it on my blog, http://littlleeddy.blogspot.com. Am using Mp3 in my Nightsong Podcast, and have tried like hell to get the words down accurately. Mostly a failure. You would make my day if you'll send me a link where I can get them, or better still, email them to me, eddybad@gmail.com. Thank you very much, for doing this wonderful video. the Real Little Eddy
by Bierkan on February 13, 2008, at 8:24PM PST Rudernuts, actually, yes, we did torture Japanese, both in theater and here in the home soil. Doesn't make it right. My main point, though, is we have to have an understanding of our "enemy". The fundamental divide can trace it roots back to the Crusades. However, this current conflict can better trace its roots to our role in helping Afgahnistan fight the Soviets. Once the invasion was over, our government and populace couldn't be bothered to assist in rebuilding this nation. We *could* have kept them as an ally and had friendly relations with their government. With our help, they could have adopted a western-style Muslim govenrment, much like Turkey. Instead, we left the door open for the Taliban to take control. Thank you Democratic controlled 101st Congress. Our limp wristed response to the Beirut bombing showed that if slapped, the US would back down. This was reinforced by similar response to the USS Cole, the first World Trade Center bombing and Kohbar Towers. To an extent, its being reinforced by this year's cancellation of the Dakar rally (not a US response, but an overall western response to terror). Is torture "right"? Against a culture that reguards those who believe any other prophet as demons who must be stopped at all costs, techniques to get information must be severe enough to counteract deep held beliefs.
by scriptmonkey on February 6, 2008, at 11:02AM PST Great job, as usual.
by NewsJunkie on February 5, 2008, at 10:48PM PST Is this the Hillary Clinton Campaign theme song?
by rudernuts on January 20, 2008, at 3:10PM PST Wrong! It applies to everyone. That's what makes us superior to Islamic or any other kind of terrorists. Don't live in fear and don't sell out your nation's ideals so quickly.
by SkyPilot49 on January 19, 2008, at 8:14AM PST Geneva Convention does not apply to islamic terrorist.
by rudernuts on January 16, 2008, at 6:17PM PST I love these super tough guys like 'rockaround.' "Let's torture!!" "We must tortue!" As they are more clued into to events then others. We all know these crazy animals flew planes into buildings. So did the Japanese, who also beheaded prisoners along with other atrocities. But we didn't turn around and and torture and behead Japanese prisoners. We stayed true to who were are as a nation. And we still managed to defeat them. Do we need to mention what the Nazis did? We didn't mass exterminate people to defeat them. The enduring image now of the U.S. is testicles hooked up to wires, dogs menacing piles of naked men, and horror prisons. All these tough talkers who never stood in a war zone are so tough to put others out there to try and defend these practices. Rockaround, this is not an episode of '24.' Torture doesn't work. Our own military says so. The Geneva Conventions were created to prevent civilized nations from devolving into what we are fighting. The damge fear-minded hot shots like rockaround and this administraion have done to this nation is inconceiveable. It shows how fragile our Constitution is. Yes these nuts flew planes into buildings. But perhaps if Bish and his crackerjack team had heeded repeated warnings about that very thing we might have been able to prevent it. If only this poresident didn't bog us down in a useless war we would have won in Afghanistan and killed Bin Laden.
by RjJayJohanson on January 16, 2008, at 6:51AM PST I knew Brian Wilson, and you, Mr Shearer are no Brian Wilson.
by rockround on January 15, 2008, at 7:39PM PST It's amazing how naive some people are. There seems to be disagreement over whether it produces good intel, but if it's worked in the past, I'll hold the bucket. If the choice is between a method that produces no lasting effects (other than perhaps an increased fear of drowning) to get intel that could save lives versus... what? good cop bad cop? Milk and cookies? It is, in fact, a NO BRAINER. What is your proposed alternative? You can stand around and sing Kum By Yah till the humanely raised cows come home, but we are dealing with people that FLY PLANES INTO BUILDINGS, killing men women and CHILDREN, and who DECAPITATE JOURNALISTS on TV. These people stone women to death after being raped because they had sex outside of marriage. The rapist, of course, being a man, walks. Please. You pseudo-intellectuals with your high and mighty pronouncements about right and wrong have no clue about the nature of evil, and what it takes to defend ourselves against it. We all want to live in a world of peace, love and tolerance. But this aint it. Grow up.
by motvet on January 21, 2008, at 4:34AM PST yes, some of us are even stupid enough to believe that laws are to be obeyed by everyone, and that justice is for all. what a crazy mixed up world we live in! some of that "red tape" just gets in the way of all us good ole' boys who jus wanna do our jobs, and get back to da stuff what matters! get us men, more beers over here will ya little darlin? thanx sugar, man she's got a fine ass, don't she bubba?
