FOR RELEASE MONDAY, JUNE 9, 2008 – 7a ET

MY DAMN CHANNEL GIVES IN TO IRRATIONAL FANS

Donnie Hoyle Returns With “You Suck at Photoshop”

Plus Season 3 of Wainy Days and a New Daily Show

NEW YORK, June 9, 2008 - My Damn Channel (www.MyDamnChannel.com), the entertainment studio and new media platform, today announced the return of two of the most popular, original series on the web.

Tonight, the Webby Awards will honor My Damn Channel seven times with accolades including Best Comedy series for “Wainy Days,” plus Best How-To series and People’s Voice wins for “You Suck at Photoshop.”

“You Suck at Photoshop” is produced by the creative duo Big Fat Brain. The series has been viewed over 9 million times. Donnie Hoyle, the mysterious lead character for these “mockutorials” vanished after episode 10.

Deluged by fan requests for Hoyle’s return, My Damn Channel successfully negotiated a follow-up season with the emotionally unstable screencaster. The series will reboot with all new episodes Friday, June 27.

David Wain is the creator, writer and director of “Wainy Days.” This hit web series follows one man’s absurd quest for love and sex in the big city. The first 2 seasons have been viewed over 5 million times. Guest stars have included Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Elizabeth Banks, Rob Corddry, Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter.

Wain is a founding member of the comedy troupes The State and Stella. He is a successful film director whose credits include “Wet Hot American Summer” and “The Ten.” Wain is currently filming a new comedy starring Seann William Scott, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

The third season of “Wainy Days” premieres Monday, June 16th, with a long list of guest stars from top Hollywood films and hit television series including Elizabeth Banks, Lee Majors (“The Six Million Dollar Man”), Janeane Garofalo, Jeffrey Ross, Ed Helms, Alicia Witt, Saffron Burrows, Elizabeth Reaser, A.D. Miles, Mather Zickel, Zandy Hartig, Lucy Punch, Matt Ballard, Christine Lakin, Xander Berkeley, Sarah Clarke, Jorma Taccone and Joe Lo Truglio. “Wainy Days” is produced by Jonathan Stern.

Finally, My Damn Channel announces a new, daily show. Grace Helbig is the star of “Daily Grace,” premiering weekday mornings.  Grace hosts a daily, freeform vlog delivering unfiltered commentary on new video premieres, featured clips and life behind the scenes at My Damn Channel. “Daily Grace” features two-way communication with the website’s growing community of music and comedy fans. Grace is a writer, improv artist, actress and comedian. She was previously featured on My Damn Channel’s “Bedtime Stories.”

Founder and CEO of My Damn Channel, Rob Barnett says, “In ten months, we’ve captured over 24 million views for our original videos. We’ll never be able to see the beach this summer now that advertisers are signing up to be associated with our quality content. Later this month, we’ll announce a major, mid-six figure deal for branded entertainment. Better than a sun tan.”

DYLAN ON OBAMA

Posted in Bob Dylan, Obama with tags Bob Dylan, Barack Obama on 6/6/2008 3:28:00 AM by Rob Barnett

The Times of London spoke to Bob Dylan on tour in Denmark.

"Well, you know right now America is in a state of upheaval," he says.

"Poverty is demoralising. You can't expect people to have the virtue of purity when they are poor. But we've got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up...Barack Obama.

He's redefining what a politician is, so we'll have to see how things play out.

Am I hopeful? Yes, I'm hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to.

"You should always take the best from the past, leave the worst back there and go forward into the future."

ANARCHY ON OUR STREET

Posted in Uncategorized with tags NY Times, Spiderman, Gothamist on 6/5/2008 10:09:21 AM by Rob Barnett

Just went downstairs to get a slice of pizza & walked into what looked like a scene from a summer superhero movie. A rescue climber was scaling the new NY Times building right here on our street while thousands watched from below. It first looked like he was sent up to save a jumper - but Gothamist has the story about environmental anarchy by Alain Robert who refers to himself as Spiderman.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Posted in Obama with tags Barack Obama, Stanley Ann Durham Soetoro on 6/4/2008 6:18:00 AM by Rob Barnett
I put our children to bed just one night - five months ago, feeling the real possibility that Barack Obama could be the next President after Iowa.

Last night was an historic moment. Here's a photo and a prayer - in respect for the work ahead - and for what happens next.

Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro is the mother of President hopeful and Senator Barack Obama. Born in 1942 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Stanley Ann Dunham attended the University of Hawaii in the late 1950's. It was during her study in UH that Ann Dunham met Barack Obama's father Kenyan student Barack Obama Sr. and got engaged, and later married at an age of 18 in 1960.  Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr. divorced in 1965, when he left for Harvard University to continue his education. In 1967 when Barack Obama was 3 years old, Ann Dunham married Indonesian student in UH Lolo Soetoro, so that's why there was a "Soetoro" in Dunham's name. Dunham and Soetoro divorced in the late 1970s. In 1992, the 50-year-old Stanley Ann Dunham earned a Ph.D. in anthropology for her 1067-pages-long dissertation Peasant blacksmithing in Indonesia: Surviving and Thriving Against All Odds from the University of Hawai'i. Ann Dunham died in 1995 of ovarian cancer and uterine cancer at the age of 52. In A Free-Spirited Wanderer Who Set Obama’s Path, New York Times reporter Janny Scott writes a biography on Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro.

EXPERIMENTAL FREEDOM

Posted in Uncategorized with tags Brainstorm on 6/1/2008 5:23:58 AM by Rob Barnett

Woke up and thought - time to brainstorm - to blog about it - to do it - to find a photo to share - that says it.

Here's the alt god Chris Walken from the 1983 film, BRAINSTORM - also starring the goddess Natalie Wood - who died while making the film about what happens when you die.

The B storm is the key to making a Monday workday not suck.

Force an 'important meeting' to get you into a room - actual - or virtual - invite the best of the funnest humans you know. At least 4 or 5 does the job.

Find a terrible problem to tackle for your gig - or for your dream.

In (part two) - after the morning commute - I'll throw down the fewest, simplest rules we use for the B storm event. The twins are both wailing in the background and my b is stormed out of this blog.

PART DEUX

Da Rules:

- Quantity over Quality
- No judgement
- Massive freewheeling
- not "good idea"
- not "that sucks because"
- NOTHING
- don't kill the flow
- flow FAST
- flow insanely
- write everything down
- don't lose a thing
- throw curveballs the minute you lose speed...
- curveballs change the topic & force you to start seeing it all through an odd lens
- once you've stormed for 10 minutes or 20 or more - start sorting through
- kill everything that the room knows will never make it (but save THAT list)
- make the faves....top 20 - top 3 ?
- put the best brainstorm into motion - NOW

Best thing about making BIG media in a small company:
fewest possible humans to stop or delay you from experimenting and flexing your freedom.

More risks. Immediate attempts.

You'll know if you're winning or sucking awful fast.
