HEADLINING VEGAS

Thanks to the NAB and especially to Ashley Howell, Chris Marlowe, and Rochelle Winters for inviting us to present in Vegas yesterday. Thanks to Jon Healey from the LA Times for moderating - and to Harry Shearer & Andy Milonakis for making the trip.

We filled a room of about 350-400 humans and started by showing a few of our original videos. Fun seeing hundreds LOL at YSAP - up on a huge megascreen - and cool to see a crowd feel the bass of music produced by Don Was.

Harry Shearer made news - announcing "THE ALPHAS" - a project he's been developing for 10 years - and the most ambitious new work making its way to My Damn Channel.

"THE ALPHAS" is motion-capture animation of the highest quality (Beowulf) - done in the fastest turnaround ever achieved (less than 5 day production cycles). Here's more:

Imagine seeing the best-known people in politics and the media, every week, in hilariously private situations. Not actors in makeup, but what looks and sounds like the real President, candidates, anchors, and the rest. That’s the idea behind “The Alphas”, a revolutionary new concept in topical sketch comedy. Written and performed by Harry Shearer, who’s notched more than two decades as a creator of topical satire on his weekly public radio broadcast, “Le Show”, along with two memorable seasons on “Saturday Night Live”, “The Alphas” includes no makeup, no celebrity cameos. Instead, utlizing a trio of cutting-edge motion-capture technologies--harnessed for the first time to a “week-of-air” production schedule, “The Alphas” features startlingly realistic computer-animated versions of the movers, shakers and yakkers. They’re not lifelike--thanks to the technology and Shearer’s performances, they’re alive. And every week, they’re deftly and drolly revealed for all their pretensions, resentments, jealousies and anxieties--all the good stuff, online just days after production.

Here's the first news coverage from the LA Times and the Digital Content Producer Magazine with thanks for the 'ink' & correction to Michael Goldman.

We've just been invited to crash an odd party. The NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) wants us up onstage next month (Wed. 4/16) at their confab in Vegas. Our artists, the music, the funny, the post-corporate network mojo, the free buffet. More on this in the coming weeks. Harry Shearer will be there with me.

TOM GREEN, ANDY MILONAKIS, & the awesome sandwich is ruined again

tgl.jpgandy-heaven_633250964470487500.jpgdanny-partridge.jpgtgl_radio.gif Andy Milonakis did the Tom Green show the other night. Tom is a consistent hero. It's likely our damn thing may never have evolved without people like Tom who paved the way. WATCH HIS SHOW - linked below. You'll see Andy as the real man behind the mic. He's an honest, good-hearted, comic rebel. We're lucky to have him on our side. You'll see Milonakis give the nod to Andy Kaufman. See him rap freestyle. See him eat a carrot. See him give the other guest more respect than this blog can allow. An "awesome sandwich" is ruined again as one-note Danny Bonaduce finds it completely impossible to shut his mouth. No guest, no story, no anecdote is safe from interruption as Danny recounts the millionth telling of the same five stories in his repertoire. It's a career built on mocking his own failures. Sad. He nearly wrecked the Adam Carolla show with the same desperate vibe you'll see here: TOM GREEN: http://www.tomgreen.com/?video=944 THE SANDWICH REFERENCE: http://somedudefromjersey.blogspot.com/2007/12/shit-in-my-awesome-sandwich.html ANDY MILONAKIS - "LOVE VEGAS": http://www.mydamnchannel.com/channel.aspx?episode=369

COMING UPS

Shooting extremely twisted video this Sunday night at our CES opening night party in Vegas inside the Palms hotel. Don Was is producing. Andy Milonakis is Andy-ing. The rest is going to have to get down on tape to be real. Guest stars abound. Just saw an early cut of our new 'soap opera' series: HORRIBLE PEOPLE. Created by A.D. Miles.

Cookin' with Coolio is in pre-production in LA.

Getting early cuts of our first animated series: INVASION and our new BEDTIME STORIES series from creator, Steve Kerper. He will launch the CARNIVAL OF STUFF channel coming up. His "HAPPY HANNUKAH" video blew up &
made it into our Top 10 of 07.

Filmmaker/Comedian to Live in IKEA Store for an Entire Week- Media Invited Tuesday, Jan 8 at 1pm
NEW YORK – Mark Malkoff, a filmmaker and comedian whose video "171 Starbucks" documented his visits to all of the coffee chain's Manhattan stores in a single day, will live in an IKEA store in Paramus, N.J., for an entire week starting Monday, Jan. 7.

"My apartment has to be fumigated and I need to move out for several days," said Malkoff, 31. "All of my friends have tiny studio apartments. Hotels in the city are too expensive. My apartment is 80 percent IKEA products anyway. Moving into an IKEA store makes sense."

Miraculously, IKEA has agreed to let Malkoff live in its Paramus store for the week. Each night, Malkoff will post a video recap of his day at www.MarkLivesInIKEA.com, which will be up beginning Jan. 7.

"This isn't a commercial for IKEA," Malkoff said. "They are not paying me to do this. To me, it made sense for my living circumstance and I thought it would make an interesting video. IKEA is giving me 100 percent creative control of the video content, which is pretty amazing."

Malkoff is best known for his video "171 Starbucks," in which he is shown visiting and consuming purchases at each of the ubiquitous coffee chain's locations in Manhattan in a single day. The stunt landed Malkoff on the "Today" show and on CNN, and made him the butt of one of Jay Leno's monologue jokes.

MEDIA ARE INVITED TO MARK'S BEDROOM SET IN IKEA IN PARAMUS, N.J., ON TUESDAY, JAN. 8, AT 1 P.M. PLEASE RSVP TO mark@markmalkoff.com
Location: For Press Inquires:
IKEA Mark Malkoff

Mark Malkoff is a comedian, writer and filmmaker. He has appeared as a guest on the "Today” show, CNN, Fox News Channel, ABC News, and Fox Business Network. He's also written for Radar Magazine and Steve Schirripa's talk show pilot for Fox. In July 2007, he produced and starred in a popular short video in which he visited and consumed purchases at all 171 Starbucks locations in Manhattan in one day. It can be viewed at www.171starbucks.com. Mark currently works as the audience coordinator on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report." You can check out his work at www.markmalkoff.com
