His Two Dads

Posted in Wainy Days with tags Wainy Days, David Wain, Father's Day, Holiday, Jeffrey Ross, roast, Lee Majors on 6/17/2011 8:14:35 AM by Dubs

As you embark on your Father's Day weekend, many of you will be visiting more than one parental household. Whether it be a combination of paternal father and stepfather, or your real Dad and the guy you call "Uncle Jim" who has sleepovers with your Mom, you're not all that different from our consummate romantic underdog, David Wain.

In Episode #22, his father is played by Lee Majors - but in Episode #25, it's Jeffrey Ross! No wonder this guy has issues.

Enjoy yourself this weekend. Let your Dad know that he can still beat you in basketball if you shave a few points off, or if you're a girl go ahead and not tell him about your live-in boyfriend. Happy Father's Day!

You Have a (Ball) Point...

Hot on the heels of last week's National Donut Day, today marks yet another charmingly inane "holiday" celebrating yet another piece of contemporary bric-a-brac.  I'm talking, or course, about National Ball Point Pen Day!  So fire up your out-of-office reply function, put on your party shirt, and cut out of work early.  You don't want to be late for the parade, and besides, those Bic-themed cocktails down at the National Ball Point Pen Day barbeque aren't gonna drink themselves. Just be safe out there.  You know how drivers are on BPP Day.

And in the spirit of the season, we're giving away some free My Damn Channel promotional pens over on our Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.  Nothing to scoff at, especially since it's been well-established that pen > sword = mightier.  Click the links for a chance to win.  What's that you say?  How DARE you insinuate that this is all just a cheap ploy to unload the huge surplus of pens we ordered to give away at our 4th birthday party on Monday.  Who cares that there are boxes full of My Damn Channel pens piled floor-to-ceiling in our offices, creating a fire hazard that will likely kill us all.  That's no reason to read anything duplicitous into this whole free pen giveaway thing.  You guys are acting crazy.

So happy holidays.  Don't forget to send your mom a card.

Do or Donut, there is no try...

Never let it be said that the Night Feed doesn't contain multitudes.  Sure, yesterday we told you about Mark Malkoff's quest to turn his doughy flagon of untoned flab into a rockin' six pack, but today we're taking a sharp left turn away from the world of health and fitness to indulge in another one of our not-so-secret passions: donuts!

Chocolate, sprinkles, glazed, old-fashioned... we're not picky; we like them ALL.  And today is National Donut Day -- an actual holiday created by the Salvation Army to honor the battlefield nurses of World War I who coaxed injured soldiers back to health via the medium fried dough food (thanks, Wikipedia!).

And you don't need to be a mustachioed beat cop or having a support group meeting in a church basement to eat donuts anymore.  Everyone's doing it, including minor local television celebrities like Colin Tickler (David Hunt), son of legendary B-movie actress Evelyn Anders (Patricia Heaton).  Here's Colin extracting some donut innards from Episode 3 of the new My Damn Channel series Versailles...

Sexy, right?!  We bet introverted "You're In Sports" intern Sara Wolper (Martha MacIsaac) would agree.  So throw away your fertility talismans and Axe Body Spray.  Show some holiday spirit by rubbing a glazed donut across your bare chest and smearing your face with custard.  The Salvation Army demands it.

(S)he is Risen!

Happy Friday, everyone!  As you know, this weekend marks the annual celebration of very solemn and important holiday; a time to gather with friends and family and reflect on what it means to be an upright, moral person in this chaotic, modern world.  That's right, it's Sherri Shepherd's birthday.

And to commemorate the comedienne’s 44nd, we'd like to point you toward two of the best Celebrity Autobiographies ever, featuring Sherri reading books by Madonna, which she handles solo, and by Destiny's Child, in which she's joined by comedy superheroes Mario Cantone and Jackie Hoffman.

So don't forget to toast this legendary funnywoman the way God intended: by eating yourself stupid on Cadbury Creme eggs.

Super Bowl

Posted in Matt Warren with tags Super Bowl, photoshop, ketchup, wings, football on 2/4/2011 11:28:32 AM by Matt Warren

For the serious sports fan, this weekend is arguably the biggest weekend of the year. The Super Bowl is perhaps our biggest unofficial holiday, providing slobs and stats nerds of every race, religion, and economic background an opportunity to F up some seven-layer dip and blow their paycheck on ridiculous prop bets. But not everyone's into football. And that's fine, because for these people a whole cottage-industry of nonathletic "Bowls" have sprung up to service almost every niche and fetish. There's the Bud Bowl, the Puppy Bowl, the Lingerie Bowl. But why stop there? Here are our ideas for some additions to the pantheon of esoteric specialty bowls...

The Condiment Bowl

Watch as Catsup and Ketchup go head to head to determine, once and for all time, which spelling is correct. Don't be alarmed if, at the end of the grudge match, the field is smeared in gooey red liquid from goal post to goal post. That's just, you know, delicious ketchup. Go ahead. Dip your curly fries in there.

The Soup Art Bowl

Okay, this one's a bit of a stretch, but what about a knock down drag out fight between Andy Warhol's iconic Campbells soup can paintings? Maybe like, I don't know, hot dog bean vs. New England Clam Chowder? Yeah, that works.

The Sharktocopter Bowl

Just because. Who cares if it's Photoshopped? This picture is rad.

Groundhog Day

In honor of the venerated holiday Groundhog Day - a day where a rodent does some guesswork - enjoy this clip from the comedy classic "Groundhog Day" starring the master himself, Bill Murray
