We started My Damn Channel in the wake of an earlier round of big corporate layoffs as traditional media tried to wrap its arms around the intense insurgency of online video.
Many major media companies took a shot at chasing YouTube's brass ring, but they couldn't ride their horses fast enough to get into the lead ahead of all the upstart brands racing onto the field.
We ran fast in our first year. Some of our best competitors like Super Deluxe didn't make it. We loved their work. We stayed determined to keep costs low, but still bring the best talent - treat them well - and let them deliver quality, original web video which is getting seen by an audience growing faster by the second.
In the past 24 hours, we've had the #1 video on all of YouTube - thanks to Big Fat Brain, creators of "You Suck at Photoshop" and their NEW web series, "Agency of Record."
This week, TIME Magazine honored us in their Top 10 Everything of 2008 - twice! They put YSAP in the Top 10 TV Episodes of the year next to Lost, Mad Men, 30 Rock & Colbert. And they honored Sir Harry Shearer for one of his Katie Couric Open-Mic Moments that we call "Found Objects."
Maria on our team just told me we passed 42 million total views yesterday.
This week, we added Suhaila Suhimi to lead the advertising team bringing more top brands in to sponsor all of our new programming.
Here's a list of what's NEW & what's coming for the year ahead with immeasurable thanks for every second you've stopped your world to take a look at www.MyDamnChannel.com:

Just got a first look at the all-new WAINY DAYS.
The first episode stars David dating Christine Lakin (on the left from The Hottie & The Nottie, Step by Step), and Saffron Burrows (on the right from Boston Legal, The Bank Job)
A.D. Miles, Zandy Hartig & Matt Ballard are all back!
And you'll recognize the character actor (Mike Starr) as the cabbie from every movie ever made.
We're premiering Monday, 6/16 at 7a et - unless we can't wait & sneak it to you early here.
Here's today's featured video - Grace's #2 fave episode -"Walking Tour" - starring David's co-con from The State and Reno 911, the amazing Kerri Kenney-Silver.

Happy Jack tells the Wall Street Journal: The "good thing about Howard Stern leaving our station is that it already happened to us," he says.

Read the morning paper & it's not hard to think of politics, pop culture, and media as evil bedfellows hellbent on cookin' up cannibal stew for breakfast. The minute any human or any entity is served up on a silver platter is the same moment we're all one step closer to seeing them ripped apart by an angry mob.
With every technological step forward, we still seem so closely linked to the coliseum spectacles ages ago.
Best medicine is to TEAR YOURSELF DOWN the second you get set up as the next big thing.

We should be out on the picket lines handing out Krispy Kremes, but we're at work honoring creative veterans of show business battles by building a new stage for their next works.
My Damn Channel is built to last longer than just another sugar rush. After years of leading insurgencies on missions up steep hills in Old Media, U.S.A., we commissioned a new band of sisters and brothers to start a war we knew we could win.
There's a strict dress code for management: no suits. We swore a sacred oath to insure total artistic freedom - at all costs - with all treasure split equally with soldiers in the field.
3 simple promises to every new media web warrior on "My Damn Channel":
- No "Notes"
- No Hidden Costs
- 50/50 splits
It took about ten minutes to put these war plans on the table and ask David Wain to join this year's army. It took David about ten seconds to say "YES."
'Wainy Days' is our most successful episodic web series. In our first 100 days, David's comedies have been seen one million times and today marks the premiere of Season 2.
Old media management can be secretly baffled when they stumble upon a hit. But they quickly race to take credit (and profit) away from every rare smash. Scores of imitators crop up instantly every time there's a hit to try and recapture lightning in a bottle.... and sell it for twice as much.
We know why David Wain has hits on "My Damn Channel." We pay him and his production AND we leave him the hell alone. He's a writer, director, producer, actor who's spent enough time on both sides of the camera to know how to conjure up exactly what he wants to present on the screen. I've spent enough time on all sides of the game to know how to support this kind of talent well.
'Wainy Days' works because it's insanely funny. David's series is a cross between 'Dirty Seinfeld' and Woody Allen on acid. Guest stars have included Jonah Hill, Rashida Jones, Michael Ian Black, Zandy Hartig, A.D. Miles, Rob Corddry, Jessica Westfeldt, Elizabeth Banks, Jason Sudeikis, Ken Marino, Thomas Lennon, and Kerry Kenney-Silver.
Much respect and thanks to Producer Jon Stern; to my head of production, Paul Gallagher; to all at My Damn Channel; to Zandy + to everyone working on 'Wainy Days;' and especially to you Mr. Wain.....we owe you a whole lotta Krispy Kremes.
