I just left Howard Stern's studio after an hour-long, on-air interview with the King.
About 2 weeks ago, Collette McLafferty set up an interview on Dr. Blogstein's Radio Happy Hour on Blog Talk Radio. Their interview was supposed to be about My Damn Channel, but they opened with a question about my old life in a thankless job at CBS Radio working to try to figure out how to replace the irreplaceable Howard Stern.
Howard 100 News ran with the story on Sirius on April Fool's Day. Gary Dell'Abate connected to invite me to come in to meet Howard this morning, 420, to tell the untold, true story.
I'd gotten advice from some of my best friends - and from some of Howard's friends about how to handle the situation. Much of it obvious. Tell the truth. Don't weasal. And the hardest advice - don't be long-winded.
Somehow, the minute I walked in LIVE - the mass nerves disappeared and Howard was totally amazing for over an hour.
We talked about the impossible situation he created by quitting radio in 2004 for satellite. I told him that the only person that came out perfectly smelling like a rose...was Howard.
We talked about Jon Stewart, Matt & Trey from South Park, Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Chris Rock, David Lee Roth, Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Free FM, Harry Shearer, You Suck at Photoshop, and My Damn Channel. He couldn't have been cooler.
Today's show will loop all day on Sirius.

Big love to Coolio, the author!
Our "Cookin' with Coolio" web series spawned a cook book that promises to give you the skills that lead to successful seduction at least 70 percent of the time:

Happy 4th!
The method to our madness at My Damn Channel has always been simple. We put independent artists we love & trust in charge of their own channels to bring you free comedy & music.
Don Was conjured up mighty free magic with the release of "Stand by Me," a new version of the Ben E. King classic - made for the people of Iran - by Iranian superstar Andy, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, John Shanks, Don Was & friends.
"Stand by Me" is only one week old today and we're closing in on the first million views worldwide! THANK YOU for sharing this song and video and free mp3 and for moving it across continents and into Iran.
Here's the first, in-depth interview with Don about how this all came about by Nicole Sandler. (giving me trouble on IE - fine on Safari?! - must need more beer)
Nicole has one of the most impressive careers in radio. She's broadcast on some of the best music radio stations across the country. A true music fan with fine taste. You can find Nicole talking music, politics and more on Air America and we also recommend her blog at RadioOrNot.com.
Nicole spoke with Don Was about putting together the "Stand by Me" project - about Was (Not Was) - and about creating, producing and curating the Wasmopolitan Cavalcade of Recorded Music here on My Damn Channel.

Most people know us for bringing the laffs. Don Was is the man that brings the music to My Damn Channel.
We've been in awe of the way his latest inspired idea has taken off in the past 48 hours.
"Stand by Me" is spreading like wild. THANK YOU ALL for turning this idea into action. And thank you for getting this inside Iran.
Media coverage is insane. There are soulful responses pouring in from emails, tweets, calls, facebook, video comments, the YouTube community, and every site taking this free video and mp3 and making the music move.
We just watched & stopped the video at 1:12 & found the MYSTERY & well...the funny.
Look who's in the middle! Look how many people are in the photo. Let 'the Kevin Bacon game' begin.

Don Was is the man behind our music on My Damn Channel.
The Wasmopolitan Cavalcade of Recorded Music is the place where Don brings you music you won't hear anywhere else.
Our Donfather called a few nights ago, with an inspired idea.
The result & the video is on your screen now.
Please share this - post this - email this link.
No money is being made on this & you can get a free mp3 download on Don's channel too.

That's David Wain & Amy Miles in the new episode of WAINY DAYS: "Rochelle" is a 2-part, rock opera.
Part 1 premieres today - Part 2 premieres tomorrow.
"Rocky Horror Wainy Show" !!
It's the 30th episode of one of the best comedy series inside your computer. Big thanks to David Wain for always delivering for his fans...and to Jon Stern - the producer of WAINY DAYS & everything else we love like HORRIBLE PEOPLE, CHILDREN's HOSPITAL n' more.
When we started WAINY DAYS, I promised David he could do the exact work he wanted - without any suits or execs in the way. This was the first time we ever even visited the set - as a going away present to Maria Diokno, one of our My Damn Channel originators.

When Maria & I got to the shoot, they cast us as extras seated right behind David & Michelle Federer (from Broadway's "Wicked"). Maria is an actress who's done this before - I'm horrible, but it's a thrill to be 'in' our longest-running series.

Thrills n chills yesterday on the set of WAINY DAYS. David Wain is shooting all new episodes for Season 4!
When we launched My Damn Channel 7/31/07, David was one of the first artists to believe we could build a home that re-wrote rules of how the show business is supposed to work.
Three seasons and 26 episodes later, this amazing man has created one of the best comedy series in the new world. We bow to HIM!
We've never once visited the set to play exec types with David and his producer, Jon Stern. They're too good at what they do to have us nosing around. The formula works - so why screw with it.....until yesterday.
Maria Diokno - our Director of Original Programming & one of the founding people inside our DAMN fam is leaving to move back to a new life in her native San Francisco. She's been the best co-con anyone can imagine. We're going to suck without her.
We decided Maria couldn't leave here without seeing David & Jon and company in action. And we ended up getting thrown into one of the new eps as extras.
All-new WAINY DAYS will premiere here this spring.

FACETIME presented by Puma.
The pilot episode for our newest series premieres today.
Puma asked My Damn Channel to step up and play.
We pitched a simple idea:
Athletes and Musicians talking shop.
Thanks to Warren Chao, Joe Carlone, Jon Lawrence, and Paul Gallagher for moving faster than cliches to shoot this last week at Dallas Cowboys training camp.
Here are: TERRELL OWENS & JUICY J and DJ PAUL from THREE SIX MAFIA.
If you like it & Puma likes it - you'll get more FACETIME.
Let us know which athletes & musicians you want put together.

Respect and thanks to Dave Stewart for an inviation to an inspired dinner in Los Angeles with Nokia this week.
Dave is a fan of My Damn Channel and a Change Agent. He's a soulful musician and a visionary thinker in search of new ways to put music, entertainment, and ideas into your control.
Dave hosted dinner along with his latest partner in magic, Tero Ojanpera, Nokia's Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Communities.

Less than 30 Nokia dinner guests included musicians, producers, filmmakers, and smart humans dedicated to further empowering people to access information and entertainment through impressive technology.
Mick Jagger was there. I've been lucky enough to work with him and the Stones on a few projects since "Tattoo You." We spoke before dinner and I gave him the My Damn Channel shebang.

Here's Q&A with Dave & Tero on where this is all going.
Dave is on tour this summer as Dave Stewart and His 30-piece Rock Fabulous Orchestra. This man makes mincemeat of the mundane. He's also releasing a new album and a book. Info here.
More to follow.
