YouTube and My Damn Channel: Breaking News

Today, Google made a major announcement setting the stage for new programming on YouTube. We're honored that My Damn Channel is working to create a new YouTube original channel as part of this initiative.

We launched www.MyDamnChannel.com back in 2007 - dedicated to giving the most talented people in entertainment a studio and distribution platform where they can co-create, produce and showcase the best original video programming. We've made thousands of videos and many of the most watched and awarded comedy series like “Wainy Days,” “You Suck at Photoshop,” “Horrible People,” “Daily Grace” and political satire from the great Harry Shearer. We've been supported by major advertisers who partner with us to reach engaged, loyal fans online with media campaigns and branded entertainment that break through the noise.

In addition to running our own site, we've always syndicated to other outlets and YouTube has been a powerful partner since we launched our first channel there in 2007.

In February, 2012, we’re expanding our YouTube relationship to give you MY DAMN CHANNEL LIVE: a hosted, 30-minute, weekly comedy show featuring world premieres of our original videos and series. We'll bring you stars you love and new talent too.

MY DAMN CHANNEL LIVE will also invade your screens daily with 10-minute, interactive blasts from our host. You'll see our new live show on a dedicated channel on My Damn Channel, on a new channel on YouTube, and in syndication.

We'll keep you plugged in on the birth of our new baby with fresh updates about all the artists we’re signing and the new series we’re producing from now 'til launch. I want to give HUGE thanks to everyone who's supported My Damn Channel. A few short years ago, Warren Chao and I were two crazy fools with a power point presentation and a dream. The fact that one of the most revolutionary companies in the world just tapped us for their new adventure blows us away and we're counting on all of you to be watching.

5 Ways To Make Yourself More Popular

WAKE UP and be more popular! Don't be like James Franco.

So you're back in school and you're bored already? Here are 5 Ways To Make Yourself More Popular.

1. Find someone to haze. It's still early in the school year, right? Your professor is probably still learning names. If you're in a class where your instructor calls attendance, just start hazing people. "Steve Guttenberg?" "More like, Steve Not-So-Gutten-To-Be-Back-In-School! YOU'VE BEEN HAZED."

2. Talk about how much you love Justin Bieber. His voice still hasn't broken so girls still see him as an asexual non-threatening type of fantasy crush, right? Also he's just, like, sooooooo CUUUUUUUTE.

3. Tell them how much you love animals. Cats, especially. Who doesn't love a pussy...CAT. Pussycat. Jeez.

4. Show your new roomies that you know how to cook. You should probably start with the Faghetti'wich: fries and spaghetti on a sandwich...so, you know, all your basic college food groups. Later, when the local sandwich shop starts selling it you can get them to name it after you.

5. Make a video for your new classmates telling them how much you love them. And how pretty you think they all are. And how you would totally have babies with them if they would let you. Because that's not creepy at all.

Good luck! Let us know if any of these things actually work to increase your popularity because then we will need to transfer to your school immediately.

'Chuting!

Now at this point, you may be thinking "WHAT ON EARTH IS CHUTING?!?!"  Webster's dictionary defines chuting as "the act of utilizing a chute (as by passing ore down it)."  But Webster's dictionary is an idiot.

In the 21st century, chuting, invented by Grace Helbig in a recent Daily Grace, is an alternative to planking (pictured above), which is for babies.  Here's two chuters inverted chuting at the American Museum of Natural History.

If you want to see what normal chuting looks like, you could hold your computer upside-down, or keep it rightside-up but look at it while inverted chuting yourself, or build a time machine and travel to 1897 to partake in George M. Stratton's perceptual adaptation experiment, in which participants wore goggles that inverted their vision vertically until their brain eventually inverted the image back to normal, at which point when the subject would remove their googles, their vision would be permanently upside-down.

Or you could check out this photo of a very athletic Darlene Contreras chuting on a soccer ball.

Or Taylor O'Brien 'chuting hoops.

And if you can't get enough of planking variants, check out this brief article from My Damn Chanel Blog Network member The Slacktory.

TGIF, HAGS, and happy 'chutin'!

Congratulations to Elizabeth Banks for her Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series! In case Thursday is your bowling night, Elizabeth Banks plays Jack Donaghy's baby's mother Avery on NBC's 30 Rock. She also plays Wainy Days' Shelly, who shattered the web series' records by dating the fictionalized Wain in three separate episodes! Check them out here, here and here.

Slacktory.com

Today is a new day in the world of My Damn Channel because we officially launch the My Damn Channel Blog Network with Slacktory (http://slacktory.com).

Slacktory is helmed by one of our favorite internet users, Nick Douglas, former editor of Valleywag and Urlesque, where he helped us navigate the vast internet with humor and wit.  We were so impressed by him, naturally we stalked followed Nick on Twitter and Tumblr and when he mentioned briefly that he was looking for a new challenge, we pounced.  Social Media: it works!

(Nick!)

Now Nick and his merry band of writers are all part of the Damn Family.  We always wanted more brothers and sisters, but Mom said "over her dead body," so this is, like, the best kind of compromise.  We get some new playmates and Mom's still alive.

Make sure you visit Slacktory.com daily to find out what shenanigans that crazy internet has gotten itself into this time!  Today, we have stories about Jessi Slaughter, a Harry Potter/Book of Mormon parody, a visit to Jack In The Box with Tom Waits and a weekly column from Mark Zuckerberg that Mark Zuckerberg has nothing to do with at all.

But, don't worry! We haven't forgotten our online video roots! Slacktory will curate, remix and mashup videos at MyDamnChannel.com/Slacktory.  Our first Slacktory video has cats, babies and Hitler explaining "Planking," so, you know, there's something for everyone!

Slacktory is just the beginning.  We're coming for you, Internet.  Please continue to do ridiculous things so we always have something to talk about.

Gigi Season Finale

Gigi: Almost American Season Finale now playing on an internet near you. Click here to watch.

So I guess that's it then. All done. Thanks for coming.

WAIT!!!

This just in: Gigi "Extras" will be released every Wednesday!

Take your head out of the oven and we'll see you next Wednesday for more Gigi.

Give Birth to Laughter

You know that stern, older woman who lived in your house when you were growing up?  The one who cooked all your meals, did your laundry, and threw away all the porno she found under your bed while vacuuming? The woman who always got into lengthy shouting matches with your father over finances, and who spent long afternoon after long afternoon quietly sitting on the couch, surrounded by the chaos of her household, drinking zinfandel and staring off into the middle distance? Remember her?

That was Ms. Ana, your nanny.

The woman who paid Ms. Ana to do all those things was your mother. And guess what Sunday is? That’s right: Mother’s Day.

What’s that? You demand My Damn Channel videos with an extremely tenuous link to a Mothers’ Day theme? Well don’t worry, YOU WILL NOT BE DENIED.

Everyone’s favorite newly-minted American, Gigi, falls for a very pretty, very pregnant library patron, played by Gigi star Josh Gad’s real-life wife, Ida Darvish.

Two grown children of an eccentric, mostly awful dead actress try to figure out what made their mom tick in the new series Versailles, premiering Monday!

And last but not least, David Wain shoves a new mother to the ground and tries to drown her baby. Spoilers.

So show a little respect, you little shit, and send the old crone a card. Who knows? Maybe she’ll write you back into the will after all.

Gigi: SPACE COWBOY

NSYNC said it best: "If you want to fly/Come on take a space ride with the space cowboy - BABY!"

And that's exactly what you will be doing during this week's episode of Gigi.  Gigi is in space.  Saving the world.  Winning the heart of the woman he loves.  What more could you possibly want?  Oh, Hank "The Rock" Goldberg?  You get that, too!  No big deal, just Gigi delivering the GOODZ - again!

So check out SPACE COWBOY and you will be lifted to a higher plane of comedy.  I guarantee it!  Just look at the still above!  LOOK AT IT!

Here Comes the Bride

If you woke up this morning with an extra spring in your step and a little bit of a glow about you, fear not.  It's not a brain tumor (probably)—you're just basking in the glorious psychic afterglow of the Royal Wedding!  I mean, like, OMG, right?

Yes, there's nothing more romantic than a photogenic young commoner being hand-selected by the Illuminati and served up on a silver platter for review and approval by the future king's cadre of clucking, hunchbacked toadies as they strum lutes and swill peasants' blood from pewter goblets.  At least that's how I presume it works.  I don't know.  I'm an American.

But regardless, My Damn Channel is using this opportunity to "say yes to the dress" and provide you with one each of the following:

Something old...

The first ever episode of 'You Suck at Photoshop.'

Something new...

The latest trailer for the new series 'Versailles,' starring Patricia Heaton.

Something borrowed...

Not ours, but still hilarious: a break dancer kicks a baby in the face.

And something blue...

Andy Milonakis's 'Red Blue.'  That works, I guess.

So say "I do" to these videos or forever hold your peace.  Also, don't forget to send the happy young couple something nice.  I'm pretty sure they're registered at Pottery Barn.

A Message From The Lost Nomads as "Gigi" Premieres

(Editor's Note: For today's world premiere of Gigi: Almost American, I asked the series creators, The Lost Nomads (Josh Gad, Tyler Moore, Ty Clancey, Kevin Larsen and Ida Darvish) if they would guest-blog for us and they graced us with just about one of the nicest notes anyone has ever written about us.  So you'd better watch their show.  Not just because it's really, really good-- but because I want them to keep liking us. Welcome to the Damn Fam, guys! -- Maria)

The Lost Nomads have had a number of partners through the  years, but none has come close to being the kind of brilliant, forward thinking collaborator that My Damn Channel has. As we prepare to launch Gigi in the coming days, we can safely say that there is no better home for this series and for our brand of comedy. We are ecstatic that Rob Barnett and his team of resident geniuses saw the same promise in our concept that we did and allowed us to go crazy with it. And now, in conjunction with the BBC and My Damn Channel, we are ready to share our baby with the world, or at least a few hundred thousand people in the world.

Sincerely,

The Lost Nomads
