Seinfeld is 25

Posted with tags Seinfeld, 25th Anniversary, Jerry, George, Elaine, Kramer on 7/7/2014 11:01:14 AM by DannyMoney

My favorite TV show of all-time celebrated its 25th anniversary this weekend.  That show isSeinfeld.  Right up there with The Beatles and the Harry Potter novels, Seinfeld has given me countless hours of pure and true joy during the course of my entire life.  To watch the show is my kind of heaven, and the two clips above are two of my favoriteSeinfeld moments.  I can't really say why I find them so funny, because they're not "classic" in the yada-yada, Soup Nazi, "The Contest" sense.  But I think they are good examples of why the show was so beloved more accurately than a lot of the more famous moments do, since I find that it wasn't just the showstoppers that you came for.  You came for George singing a song, desperately in love.  You came for, "You're eating onions, spotting dimes - I don't know what the hell is going on!" That line is pure nirvana for DannyMoney.

Below are some articles about Seinfeld that I have enjoyed reading in the last couple of days.

- Andy Greenwald for Grantland has 25 thoughts on the show

- Time's James Poniewozi says there will never be another Seinfeld

- Seinfeld paved the way for Tony Soprano?  Matt Zoller Seitz think so

You Have a (Ball) Point...

Hot on the heels of last week's National Donut Day, today marks yet another charmingly inane "holiday" celebrating yet another piece of contemporary bric-a-brac.  I'm talking, or course, about National Ball Point Pen Day!  So fire up your out-of-office reply function, put on your party shirt, and cut out of work early.  You don't want to be late for the parade, and besides, those Bic-themed cocktails down at the National Ball Point Pen Day barbeque aren't gonna drink themselves. Just be safe out there.  You know how drivers are on BPP Day.

And in the spirit of the season, we're giving away some free My Damn Channel promotional pens over on our Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.  Nothing to scoff at, especially since it's been well-established that pen > sword = mightier.  Click the links for a chance to win.  What's that you say?  How DARE you insinuate that this is all just a cheap ploy to unload the huge surplus of pens we ordered to give away at our 4th birthday party on Monday.  Who cares that there are boxes full of My Damn Channel pens piled floor-to-ceiling in our offices, creating a fire hazard that will likely kill us all.  That's no reason to read anything duplicitous into this whole free pen giveaway thing.  You guys are acting crazy.

So happy holidays.  Don't forget to send your mom a card.

Subway, USC, and My Damn Channel

Posted in Subway with tags subway, fresh artists, jeff and ravi, do whatever, usc, press on 3/2/2011 8:09:10 AM by Dubs

Hey! We're hosting the winners of the Subway Fresh Artists contest in conjuntion with USC. Check out 3 episodes from each winning team. Odds are you'll see/hear these names again since not a year has passed since 1973 without a USC alumnus or alumna being nominated for an Academy Award. Pretty ballin', right?

Do Whatever – A scripted comedy series from Andy Landan, Giles Andrew, and Alice Mathias featuring an overworked junior lawyer who convinces his computer genius friend to quit his job and start a business with him doing jobs that nobody else wants to do.

Jeff and Ravi Fail History – A scripted buddy comedy sci-fi series from R.J. Daniel Hanna,  F. Brian Scolfield and Ian Ward following a jovial slacker and his astrophysicist roommate as they stumble their way from the dawn of man to a post-apocalyptic future in a sputtering time machine.
