It's WAINing again - Wainy Days shoots Season 5

Ken Marino, Jon Stern, Rob Barnett, David Wain

WAINY DAYS first launched on day 1 of My Damn Channel: 7/31/07. David and I knew each other a lil bit from the salad daze at MTV. He saw the future when he and the Michaels created STELLA shorts...back when it took a year and half to buffer a 3-minute clip.

I promised David he could do the original series he wanted without the typical network interruptus, "notes" and meddling. We'd deliver cash, massive promotion and distribution to reach his fans and make WAINY DAYS the premiere series of our (almost) TV network of the future.

David pitched a show where his character would make out with the hottest women in Hollywood and have every date go horribly wrong. I said 'yes.' We locked the right price for the first season of 10 episodes. And I asked David to promise to cast this show as well as he casted his latest feature film back then, THE TEN.

32 official episodes, 4 years, and 4 seasons later, you've watched and shared WAINY DAYS to make it the longest-running, most-popular comedy series in the new world.

This week, we're filming an all-new season 5 with another killer cast including David & Ken Marino, who co-wrote the new episodes and Exec Produces with David & our beloved series producer, Jon Stern. This year's cast also features Steven Weber, Zandy Hartig, Jorma Taccone, Erinn Hayes, Lizzy Caplan, n' more.

We have a brand new sponsor: FIAT !

We'll post more updates and pics and announce a premiere date sooner than you think.

While I have you for this too-happy-too-long post: please n'joy the trailer for David's brand new feature film: WANDERLUST - opening FEB 24 2012 !

YouTube and My Damn Channel: Breaking News

Today, Google made a major announcement setting the stage for new programming on YouTube. We're honored that My Damn Channel is working to create a new YouTube original channel as part of this initiative.

We launched www.MyDamnChannel.com back in 2007 - dedicated to giving the most talented people in entertainment a studio and distribution platform where they can co-create, produce and showcase the best original video programming. We've made thousands of videos and many of the most watched and awarded comedy series like “Wainy Days,” “You Suck at Photoshop,” “Horrible People,” “Daily Grace” and political satire from the great Harry Shearer. We've been supported by major advertisers who partner with us to reach engaged, loyal fans online with media campaigns and branded entertainment that break through the noise.

In addition to running our own site, we've always syndicated to other outlets and YouTube has been a powerful partner since we launched our first channel there in 2007.

In February, 2012, we’re expanding our YouTube relationship to give you MY DAMN CHANNEL LIVE: a hosted, 30-minute, weekly comedy show featuring world premieres of our original videos and series. We'll bring you stars you love and new talent too.

MY DAMN CHANNEL LIVE will also invade your screens daily with 10-minute, interactive blasts from our host. You'll see our new live show on a dedicated channel on My Damn Channel, on a new channel on YouTube, and in syndication.

We'll keep you plugged in on the birth of our new baby with fresh updates about all the artists we’re signing and the new series we’re producing from now 'til launch. I want to give HUGE thanks to everyone who's supported My Damn Channel. A few short years ago, Warren Chao and I were two crazy fools with a power point presentation and a dream. The fact that one of the most revolutionary companies in the world just tapped us for their new adventure blows us away and we're counting on all of you to be watching.

David Wain is SEXY.

David Wain is a sex machine.
He dates the hottest women that you've ever seen.
It seems unlikely but it's totally true
If you don't understand it we'll explain it to you...

Way back in August of '11 we went to Just For Laughs in Montreal and did "Wainy Days LIVE" with David Wain, Rob Corddry, Reggie Watts and a bunch of their super-talented friends.

Two of those friends were Garfunkel and Oates aka Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci, two of the sweetest, funniest, most talented, adorable people you could ever hope to meet in your entire life. In Montreal, they wrote a song about how sexy David Wain must be since in every episode of Wainy Days gorgeous women are falling over themselves to be with him. When we all returned home, everyone thought it would be a shame to keep the brilliance of that song limited to a few hundred people in French-Speaking Quebec, so we filmed it and are sharing it with the world.

Watch it and share it with your friends. It's like a little bit of joy right on your computer screen.

And Kate and Riki have both been on television and in film so they would know what sexy is, right? They're like comedic rock stars, right? The LA Times wrote a feature about them! They would know what would make a pretty girl want to lick an average 42 year old body!

Could it be they find David Wain that sexy because he told them that Season 5 of his groundbreaking web series Wainy Days is returning to My Damn Channel this Fall?! Yes. That's it. That's very much what it must be. For sure.

A History of Hot Fictional Characters With Eye Patches

In honor of Kate Mulgrew's eye patch-wearing character "Kove" in NTSF:SD:SUV::, we thought we'd take a look at some other fictional eye-patch wearing characters whom we have loved:

Such as Rob Lowe in "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me"

Or Daryl Hannah in "Kill Bill"

Or Kurt Russell in "Escape from New York" AND "Escape from L.A."

And Kurt Russell AGAIN in "Captain Ron"

And, of course, Jamey Sheridan in "Law and Order: SVU"

... which, of course, no one should confuse with NTSF:SD:SUV:: which is on tonight on Adult Swim at 12:15am.

Unless maybe you're dyslexic, and then, that would be totally understandable.

A Conversation About Childrens Hospital, Kind Of.

So today we were all:

And then Steve Agee was all, like, "Yeah! Totally! Retweet (and some other irrelevant stuff)!"

And finally, Rob Huebel was all, like, "Me, too, guys!"

And so then you watched it:

And then all was right with the world.  The end.

Thanks, Just For Laughs

We're still recovering from a raucous weekend in Montreal.  We were there for Just For Laughs and much laughter was had, indeed.

There was an amazing speech from Marc Maron that The Comic's Comic has in its entirety:

Fearless leader/Founder/CEO Rob Barnett spoke on a bunch of panels:

We gave away a bunch of t-shirts:

And then David Wain got a bunch of his friends together and they did a live Wainy Days show:

So, you know, good times.  Thanks to Jeffrey Ross, Garfunkle and Oates, CEO Rob Barnett, Rob Corddry, Zandy Hartig, Jon Stern, Reggie Watts (unpictured) and, most of all, David Wain for making Montreal a little more Wainy for one weekend.

Join us at Just For Laughs in Montreal to see Wainy Days LIVE and pitch our Founder/CEO, Rob Barnett, for a development deal - he's guaranteed to select one out of all the pitches he receives during the course of the festival. We like your odds.

You Have a (Ball) Point...

Hot on the heels of last week's National Donut Day, today marks yet another charmingly inane "holiday" celebrating yet another piece of contemporary bric-a-brac.  I'm talking, or course, about National Ball Point Pen Day!  So fire up your out-of-office reply function, put on your party shirt, and cut out of work early.  You don't want to be late for the parade, and besides, those Bic-themed cocktails down at the National Ball Point Pen Day barbeque aren't gonna drink themselves. Just be safe out there.  You know how drivers are on BPP Day.

And in the spirit of the season, we're giving away some free My Damn Channel promotional pens over on our Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.  Nothing to scoff at, especially since it's been well-established that pen > sword = mightier.  Click the links for a chance to win.  What's that you say?  How DARE you insinuate that this is all just a cheap ploy to unload the huge surplus of pens we ordered to give away at our 4th birthday party on Monday.  Who cares that there are boxes full of My Damn Channel pens piled floor-to-ceiling in our offices, creating a fire hazard that will likely kill us all.  That's no reason to read anything duplicitous into this whole free pen giveaway thing.  You guys are acting crazy.

So happy holidays.  Don't forget to send your mom a card.

"4 MORE YEARS"

Huge thanks to everyone who made last night's 4th Birthday Party a whole lotta love!

We're honored to be a part of this creative community.

Huge thanks to everyone who takes a minute to watch - share - and like - the work of the artists we love and respect.

To our artists, fans, staff, advertisers, partners, investors, families and friends (who'd we leave out?)...we love you for helping us all get this far. We're committed to making more goodness for "4 MORE YEARS" and beyond.

Respect & Love,

Rob

"Touch My Junk" for Kids

In case you haven't heard, the TSA is now giving pat-downs to six-year-olds.  And while we admire the TSA's consistency, we can't help but wonder if this is one of those times when common sense could have prevailed and an exception perhaps been made.  I'm guessing the biggest threat poised by the girl in the video is the possibility of getting roped into a hyperactive, one-sided conversation about Justin Beiber.  God, kids will not SHUT UP about that guy.

Nevertheless, maybe instead of wasting their time with Journey, the kids of PS22 should brace themselves for the realities of modern air travel and instead do a cover of Harry Shearer's "Touch My Junk."  In fact, I can't think of one single reason why this might be a bad idea.  Oh wait, I just thought of about five-hundred.  Never mind.
