Get To Know Our Team: Laura Willcox

Meet Laura, a Production Coordinator on My Damn Channel LIVE!  She helps produce both our live show as well as remote taped pieces.  Laura has also worked for LandlineTV and is a regular performer at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre here in NYC.  But enough of work... let's get to the fun facts!

Laura has a rod in her spine thanks to corrective surgery for scoliosis.

While recovering all summer from the surgery, she got to have a TV in her bedroom, which led to her watching The Daily Show every night, which is what made her want to go into TV and comedy!

Laura also regularly stalks dog parks in the city and claims she won't be truly happy until she is in fact a dog owner. She claims to think about owning a dog "8-20 times a day."

Check out more of Laura's stuff at LauraWillcox.com!

Get To Know Our Team: Kit Pennebaker

Meet Kit Pennebaker, Lighting Director for My Damn Channel LIVE!

Kit, who is both a camera operator and lighting designer, has been with us from the very start of this crazy project, but he'll be leaving us for the sunny climes of Los Angeles after this week, so we figured what better time to learn some fun facts!

Kit was born and raised in Manhattan.

    He owns two bassett hounds.

He once hacked into a Texas Instruments graphic calculator so that it could control a camera.

Kit is widely described as a "butterfingers."

    We're going to miss him!

Get To Know Our Team: Katie Akana

Katie Akana is the set designer for My Damn Channel Live and the creator of the fantastic menagerie you will see behind Beth during our show!  She has worked on the IFC sketch comedy “Whitest Kids U Know,” MTV’s “Silent Library,” as well as the cult sensation “Fat Guy Stuck in the Internet.”

But enough of her credits… let’s get to some fun facts!

Katie is from Berkeley, CA.  She lives in New York and has (for an NYC resident) an extensive taxidermy collection that started as set props and turned into things she just really liked to collect.

She is the only woman she knows that can life a ¾-inch 4x8 sheet of plywood.

She has two cats—Hank and Buster—and both of their images are parts of the set (look for them!).

Finally, she got into prop and set making while doing sketch comedy with her group “Machio” (formerly “Ralph”).  Her cast member?  My Damn Channel’s own Mark Malkoff!

Get To Know Our Team: Joon Chung

This is Joon, an administrative intern here at My Damn Channel!

Joon was born and raised on Staten Island, and graduated in 2011 from the University of Michigan with a degree in Business Marketing. He helps out with any and all aspects of the Live show, and also assists with our various YoutTube partnerships.  But enough about Joon's work... let's get to some fun facts!

Joon has been interested in comedy for some time, but especially since placing third in a college standup competition.

Joon's mom has 8 siblings and his dad has 9, which means Joon has literally hundreds of cousins.

Joon made a comedy video called (ahem) "Jeremy Lin's Balls."  And within weeks of making it, both Lin AND Joon blew out their knees playing basketball.  Jeremy Lin's balls are cursed!!

Get To Know Our Team: Justin Moriarty

Meet Justin, a Content Associate here at My Damn Channel, and a vital piece of the LIVE show!

Justin works with Jesse Cowell to develop and produce all of our My Damn Channel original series.  He's been with the company for about a year and a half, but enough about this work stuff, let's get to some fun facts!

Justin owns a pig.  It's actually his second pig.  The first one died and was cremated.  According to Justin, "you'd be surprised how much ash a pig makes."

He plays bass and was in a band named Arcadia, but they've broken up.

Finally, Justin has a tattoo on his back of a bat that stretches from shoulder to shoulder.   But he assures is that "it sounds a lot weirder than it is when you see it."

Get To Know Our Team: Nate Bennett

Meet Nate, a Production Assistant on My Damn Channel LIVE!  Nate is from Virginia Beach, VA and is a graduate of George Mason University, where he majored in Film & Video Studies.

Nate is involved in just about every aspect of our live shows, and is the floor manager in-studio during our broadasts.  But enough about Nate's job... let's get to some fun facts!

Nate used to work for PETA.

Nate once had to dress up in a tiger suit for that job to protest circuses.

Most importantly, Nate is the owner of the famous (infamous?) hand that has insinuated itself into ALL THREE of our first shows!  If we need a hand, Nate is our go-to guy.

Get To Know Our Team: Jack Ferry

Jack Ferry is the Director of My Damn Channel LIVE.  His work has been seen on Comedy Central, CNN, Reuters, G4, IFC, and a ton of other fancy places.  But enough about Jack’s work life.  Let’s get to some fun facts!

Jack hates sandwiches because they are “terrible” in his opinion.  The only exception is if they are extremely well made, in which case they are “awesome.”

He has a fake tooth, not because he knocked one out when he was young, but because he was born with one MISSING FROM THE SET.

He’s both a Phillies AND Yankees baseball fan. Is that possible?  He says so.

Jack says that it’s “not really that stressful” creating and directing a live internet comedy show, but he also notes that two months ago his hair was brown.

Get To Know Our Team: Julia Hoff

Time to get to know the Associate Producer of My Damn Channel LIVE... Julia Hoff!

Julia is a relative newcomer to NYC, having moved here in August of 2011 after working as a production coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. She met our Executive Producer Melissa Schneider while visiting NYC and they soon became both friends AND co-workers!  But enough about jobs.  Let's get to the fun facts!

Julia loves bacon to the point that sometimes it worries her how much she loves bacon.

She's a middle child and comes from a baseball-crazy family outside of Philly.

She is obsessed with vanity license plates, and even has a tumblr devoted to them: plateinvain.com.

Her personal hero is Jerri Blank from "Strangers With Candy."

    And that's Julia!
