On this day in history - August 16th, 1977 - a man died on a toilet seat in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age 42. That man was a King and that King's name was Elvis Presley, an icon of popular music known the world over. The King gave so much music to so many people I feel like it's only fitting that we watch this Harry Shearer video in honor of the man who
stole popularized black music for a white audience in the 1950s and 60s and then got really into karate and junk food. Listen to this cover of "Blue Moon" to see the pure beauty of his young voice, or this to hear what early rock and roll meant, and let's raise a peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich to the King. You will never be forgotten. We love you.
