    Nerd News

Hey Nerds, lots of exciting things to tell you about this week, so let's get into it!  This week in Nerd News:

-It has been nearly a year since we've seen the original Grand Theft Auto 5 trailer, but Rockstar has been steadily releasing info this week, including a brand new trailer.  I, for one, am so stoked!  According to Rockstar, you'll play as three main characters: Michael, Trevor, and Franklin.  This is the first time ever that you'll play more than one character in a GTA game, but for good reason.  Ever finish a mission and then have to drive all the way across the map to get to the next mission?  No more.  Now you'll be able to jump between characters and take control of them as they are going about their daily life.  You'll even be able to switch between them during missions as long as they are present.  Don't want to be so close to the action?  Switch to a character who is across the street and provide cover by sniping people off.

-For a long time video games have been extremely hard to make and even harder to get your hands on the tools to make them, thus the lack of creativity.  L.A. Game Space looks to bring video games back into the hands of the gamers.  The goal of the L.A. Game Space is to experiment and create art out of video games.  There are for main components of the L.A. Game Space:  Residential, Galleries, Research Labs, and the Speaker Series.  It's all very interesting and complex, so be sure to go to their Kickstarter page and read more about it.  However, if you do decide to donate, you'll get an awesome package of 30 games from people like Pendleton Ward, the maker of Adventure Time!

I could go on and on about more that happened this week, but I'll spare you guys.  Be sure to watch Kristina's Answerly video later today for more Nerdy goodness!

    Nerd News

Greetings Nerds, let's get on with it already! This week in Nerd News:

-I know, I know, I talk about Skyrim a lot. But, ERMAHGERD NEW SKYRIM DLC!  Scheduled for release on December 7th, Dragonborn is Skyrim’s third expansion to come out this year.  From the looks of it, every Dovahkiin’s wish of being able to ride dragons will finally be granted. However, no one knows whether or not you'll be able to actually control the dragon or if it will just be a cut scene between traveling. I’ll be sure to give you all the information once it finally hits Xbox Live.

-For most Whovians, the first five episodes of Series 7 was hardly enough for us, so we scrounge for any piece of news we get our hands on until the Christmas special.  Luckily, we've got our hands on some exciting info:  Neil Gaiman is back on to write another episode about the Cybermen!

-Saga issue #7 comes out next Wednesday after a long two month hiatus! If you aren't following Brian K. Vaughan's newest romp, definitely be sure to check this one out. Like I said, it's only seven issues in and has been collected into a trade paperback form, so you really have no reason not to. While I was at NYCC I was able to attend the Saga Panel and they revealed the covers for the next few issues. And let me tell you, they were goregous!*

That's all I have for you guys this week!  Be sure to check out Kristina's Answerly video later today for more nerdiness.

    Nerd News

Hey Nerds, not much has happened this week in the Nerdisphere, but I'll try my best!  This week in nerd news:

-All you Apple fanboys can rest easy, the iPad Mini has been announced!  Coming in at just under 8 inches, the iPad Mini will only be an inch and a half smaller than the iPad 2.  Apple will be accepting pre-orders starting today and will available in stores on November 2nd.  What do you guys think?  Will you pick one up or are you like me and don't understand why someone want a smaller iPad when they could just get an iPod Touch?

-People are finally beginning to learn the potential of video games as a tool of teaching.  In this case, we're talking about Skyrim.  Taught by professor Donna Beth Ellard, from Rice University, ENGL 312 "Scandinavian Fantasy Worlds: Old Norse Sagas and Skyrim" teaches students to compare the influence of Scandinavian fantasy worlds on us today.  I would take an infinite amount of arrows to the knee if I could only take this class.

    Nerd News

Are you still recovering from post-NYCC depression?  Hopefully this will ease your minds.  This week in Nerd News:

-What happens when a group of delinquents on community service get zapped by a freaky lightning storm?  They get super powers and kill their patrol officer, that's what!  Well, at least according to Misfits they do.  That's right, season 4 of Misfits has been announced!  We haven't got a set premiere date yet, but E4 have released a teaser trailer saying that Misfits is coming soon.  I wonder if they'll end up killing another patrol officer this season...

-Remember a few weeks ago when I talk about Project Eternity?  Well, their Kickstarter ended a few days ago.  The verdict?  They freakin' blew their original goal out of the water by nearly 4 times the amount!  If you weren't able to back their project and still want a copy of the game, they'll be releasing it via Steam once they're finished.

-Bioshock Infinite has been announced for a while now, but the release date has been pushed back multiple times.  There has been little footage of the game and many gamers were worried that it was going to be pushed back again, until recently.  Irrational Games, the company who are responsible in making Bioshock Infinite, have announced two collectors edition of the game: the premium edition and the Ultimate Songbird edition.  In the premium edition buyers will get: a 3-inch keychain bottle of the Murder of Crows vigor, a 5x7 inch lithograph, a 25 millimeter Handyman miniature from the new Bioshock Infinite board game, an art book, and codes for downloadable content all for $79.99.  For $149.99 you get everything in the premium editions plus a 9.75 inch statue of the Songbird from the game, all in special packaging that looks like it's from the world of Bioshock Infinite.  You can pre-order your collectors edition here.

Just two more weeks until NYCC!  This should tide you over until then:

-The fall season finale of Doctor Who is this weekend and the Ponds are leaving!  How am I suppose to go on without the Ponds?  How do you feel about the Ponds leaving?  Are you as sad as I am?

-Our very own Grace Helbig will be going to New York Comic Con on Friday, October 12th, and will be signing autographs with the hosts of Attack of the Show!  Be sure to stop by the G4 booth and say hello!

-This Wednesday was the season finale of Save the Supers and it was total amazeballs!  Everyone's favorite nerd, Seth Green, made an appearance as DJ Death and created musical chaos at Super Force HQ.  I'm really excited to see what happens in the next chapter of Save the Supers!  What's up with Fleet Foot's secret past?  Will World Man ever get his powers back?

    Nerd News

Hello nerds, I have a lot to talk about today, so let's just jump right into it!

-The panels for New York Comic Con have been announced and I'm in a bit of a pickle!  On Saturday, both the Nerdist panel and the Saga panel are at the same time!  How am I suppose to choose between my favorite podcast and my current favorite comic book?  If only I had a TARDIS to manage my time...  But seriously, which one do you think I should go to?

-Obsidian Entertainment, the makers of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout: New Vegas, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for an all-new RPG called Project Eternity.  From the looks of it, it seems like they'll be taking aspects of various games we know and love, such as vast open world exploring like Skyrim and the decision making and complex dialog interaction from Mass Effect.  With 25 days left to go, they've already exceeded their goal of $1.1 Million, but the more money they raise, the more content they will be able to put in the game.

-The movie adaptation of Perks of Being a Wallflower comes out today!  Who else is going to see it?  I'm going after work.  If you're like me, you clung to this book throughout high school.  Besides, Emma Watson and Paul Rudd are in it!  What more could you ask for?!

If that doesn't whet your nerdy thirst, be sure to tune in to Kristina's Answerly video later today!

    Nerd News

Editor's Note: Today we launch a new weekly feature: Nerd News! Inspired by Answerly's resident nerd expert Kristina Horner and authored by our very own Nerdfighter, Brandon Dannenhoffer.

If you're like me, you try to keep track of all of the news in our little realm, but sometimes things go under the radar.  No worries, I got you covered!

-Capcom has released gameplay footage of their newest game, Remember Me, and it looks badass.  From the looks of it, it takes the cinematic route a la Uncharted and mixes it with the combat and gadgetry of the Batman Arkham series.  My fingers are crossed, hoping they don't screw up this promising title.

-Doctor Who is back with it's second episode of Series 7, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.  The verdict?  It was great!  I know what your thinking.  Dinosaurs?  On a spaceship?  In Doctor Who?  Yes, yes.  But trust me, it works!  And, before you ask, that IS Mr. Weasley

-G4 is getting a makeover.  According to Variety, G4 is scheduled for a rebranding and is aiming for more of a posh-looking route and less geek.  With the death of Nintendo Power and now G4, it looks like video game journalism is going the way of the internet.  Let's just hope the new G4 can still hold on to it's nerdy roots.

And don't forget, today is the last day to order your New York Comic Con tickets and still get them mailed to you.  Who all is going?  I am!  Is there anything you would like for me to cover in our special NYCC edition of Nerd News?  Let me know in the comments.

    Nerd News

How have you guys been coping with the Frankenstorm this week? Luckily for me I didn't lose power and I've been curled up playing Skyrim. I didn't even have to put pants on! This week in Nerd News:

-Code Red! I repeat, Code Red! This past Tuesday Disney bought out LucasFilm LTD and the Internet basically imploded into itself. Do you know what this means? Princess Leia is now a Disney Princess! That's not the only bad news: Star Wars VII is slated for release in 2015!  Help us, Joss Whedon, you're our only hope...

-Remember a few weeks ago when I said that G4 was scheduled for a makeover? Well, the end is near: Attack of the Show and X-Play have officially been canceled. I hate to say it, but once Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira left, I knew it was only a matter of time. Both of the shows will continue to air until the end of the year. R.I.P. AOTS and X-Play. We will always remember you.

-Wreck-It Ralph is finally out today! I've been so excited to see this moving and see all of my favorite video game characters in one movie. Who else is going to see it? Let me know in the comments.
