"10 Secrets To Life," by Nick Offerman

Nick Offerman plays "Ron Swanson" on Parks And Recreation but rest assured they are very different people.

Ron Swanson likes red meat. Nick Offerman... oh, uh, likes red meat.

Ron Swanson loves the outdoors. Nick Offerman... uh, loves the outdoors, too.

The Comic's Comic spotted this article by Uproxx detailing Nick Offerman's "10 Secrets To Life" and questions where does Nick Offerman end and Ron Swanson begin?

Well only one of them made out with Megan Mullally in a Wainy Days epsode... at least, we think it was only one of them. OH GOD THIS IS TOO CONFUSING.

Nerd News: New York Comic Con Edition

New York Comic Con has come and gone, and I'm still recovering from lack of sleep, but that isn't going to stop me from telling you all of the exciting NYCC news!

-The last we heard of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim was at San Diego's Comic Con this summer, until now. Del Toro was advised not to show footage ever again, but in his own words "I just don't give a f*ck!" And let me tell you, I'm glad he didn't give a f*ck, because it was awesome! He also announced a comic book tie-in that will give a little back story to Pacific Rim, which will be released a month before the movie. If you're a fan of Godzilla, Power Rangers, or just robots fighting monsters in general, you'll want to keep your eyes out for this one.

-Oh. My. Glob. I was able to get my hands on the new Adventure Time DS game, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King!  Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!, and it was great. From the looks of it, Adventure Time DS (is what I'll be calling it for short) will have a top down view for the map and a side scroller view for the combat part of the game, much like Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. If you're a huge Adventure Time fan like I am, you'll be excited that they're also releasing a Collectors Edition of the game that features a case that looks like the Enchiridion, an 8-bit map of the Land of Ooo, a DS stylist that is shaped like Finn's Sword, and a Book of Beasts, all for $10 extra. That's a lumpin' steal!

-Continuing with the video game news, I also got my hands on the reboot of Tomb Raider.  What I was able to play was obviously an mid-production version of the game, so things seemed a little clunky.  Even the texture of the game, such as the leaves on trees, seemed to be a little blocky and pixelated.  With that said, the gameplay is what redeemed itself.  In this particular demo we found Lara escaping from some mysterious natives of the island she crash landed on and making her way down a mountain side and into a forest.  Most of what I played played out like Uncharted, prompting me to press buttons as Lara scrambled to catch herself from falling off a cliff.  I was also prompted to hunt for deer using a bow and arrow, but there were no examples of how combat would be played out against enemies.

For more NYCC coverage, be sure to come back on Wednesday for MegaBeth on the show floor!

    Nerd News

One week until New York Comic Con and it couldn't come soon enough!  This will have to tie you over for now:

-The newest set for Magic: The Gathering, Return to Ravnica, is out today!  It'll be the first time that Magic has seen Ravnica since 2005 and will be the return of guilds and shock lands.  I'm normally a Blue/Black player, but because that guild won't come out until Gatecrash, I'll probably choose Azorious, the Blue/White guild.  Do you guys play Magic?  Which guild will you choose?

-Remember last week when I said that I was going to see Looper?  Well, I did and it was awesome!  Do yourself a favor and go see this movie.  Seriously, stop reading this post and go see it now!  Actually, no, finish reading this post.  But really, see the movie.

-Dishonored isn't out until Tuesday, October 9th, but yesterday they released one of the more clever uses of YouTube I've seen in a while.  The whole premise of Dishonored is that you have numerous ways to carry out your mission, and this video proves just that.  If you aren't broke like me, be sure to pick up Dishonored on Tuesday and tell me how it is!

    Nerd News

By the time this post goes up, I’ll be at New York Comic Con. Yay, technology!  This week in nerd news:

-We all know Ohio State University’s marching band for their zany and fun marching routines, like their recent rendition of Gangnam Style. Well, this weekend they performed a medley of video game tunes, including the likes of Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, and Tetris. I admit, I teared up a bit. My whole childhood flashed before my eyes.

-Alright, I admit it:  I'm a D&D noob. And if you're like me and are interested in learning, it can be a little overwhelming on how to get started. Luckily, I found these videos of Acqusitions Inc., a D&D group made up of Wil Wheaton and the dudes from the Penny Arcade comics. Even if you don't understand what's going on, they're still amusing to watch.

-If you're looking to throw your money at something, be sure to check out the Castle Dice Kickstarter. Castle Dice is a dice game (obviously) that focuses on building castles (obviously x2). If you're a fan of games like Elder Sign, but want more competition, Castle Dice looks like the game for you. They have a free PDF version of the game and rules, but a donation is needed for a set of dice. With 24 days and only 1/3 of their goal left, be sure to fund this Kickstarter!

Okay, I'm done here, I'm probably off waiting for a panel with a bunch of smelly people right now. If you're unfortunate enough to not be at NYCC, be sure to check out Kristina's Answerly video later today!

    Nerd News

Hello nerds, I have a lot to talk about today, so let's just jump right into it!

-The panels for New York Comic Con have been announced and I'm in a bit of a pickle!  On Saturday, both the Nerdist panel and the Saga panel are at the same time!  How am I suppose to choose between my favorite podcast and my current favorite comic book?  If only I had a TARDIS to manage my time...  But seriously, which one do you think I should go to?

-Obsidian Entertainment, the makers of Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout: New Vegas, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for an all-new RPG called Project Eternity.  From the looks of it, it seems like they'll be taking aspects of various games we know and love, such as vast open world exploring like Skyrim and the decision making and complex dialog interaction from Mass Effect.  With 25 days left to go, they've already exceeded their goal of $1.1 Million, but the more money they raise, the more content they will be able to put in the game.

-The movie adaptation of Perks of Being a Wallflower comes out today!  Who else is going to see it?  I'm going after work.  If you're like me, you clung to this book throughout high school.  Besides, Emma Watson and Paul Rudd are in it!  What more could you ask for?!

If that doesn't whet your nerdy thirst, be sure to tune in to Kristina's Answerly video later today!

    Nerd News

Editor's Note: Today we launch a new weekly feature: Nerd News! Inspired by Answerly's resident nerd expert Kristina Horner and authored by our very own Nerdfighter, Brandon Dannenhoffer.

If you're like me, you try to keep track of all of the news in our little realm, but sometimes things go under the radar.  No worries, I got you covered!

-Capcom has released gameplay footage of their newest game, Remember Me, and it looks badass.  From the looks of it, it takes the cinematic route a la Uncharted and mixes it with the combat and gadgetry of the Batman Arkham series.  My fingers are crossed, hoping they don't screw up this promising title.

-Doctor Who is back with it's second episode of Series 7, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.  The verdict?  It was great!  I know what your thinking.  Dinosaurs?  On a spaceship?  In Doctor Who?  Yes, yes.  But trust me, it works!  And, before you ask, that IS Mr. Weasley

-G4 is getting a makeover.  According to Variety, G4 is scheduled for a rebranding and is aiming for more of a posh-looking route and less geek.  With the death of Nintendo Power and now G4, it looks like video game journalism is going the way of the internet.  Let's just hope the new G4 can still hold on to it's nerdy roots.

And don't forget, today is the last day to order your New York Comic Con tickets and still get them mailed to you.  Who all is going?  I am!  Is there anything you would like for me to cover in our special NYCC edition of Nerd News?  Let me know in the comments.

For more nerdy nonsense and news (alliteration is fun!), follow me on twitter.
